FAMILY MEDICINE AND URGENT CARE

Dr. Kwinter has extensive experience working in a rural general practice, which included his own family medicine clinic and a regional single-physician emergency department. He provides comprehensive medical care for all people, ages, and presentations.

Family doctors are experts in handling undifferentiated conditions, performing medical work-ups, providing treatment, and arranging follow-up to ensure that problems resolve. They are skilled at looking for features of conditions that represent "red flags" that warrant escalated investigations and interventions.

Family doctors are also the primary care providers responsible for managing chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. They monitor patient symptoms and lab values and ensure that chronic diseases are well controlled, avoiding complications.

Family doctors are also responsible for a patient's preventative medicine, which is the screening and intervention that helps prevent disease and when done in an early and proactive manner promotes healthy longevity.

Family doctors build strong relationships with their patients based on trust, communication and learning our patients' histories, interests, and values. Research has shown that patients who see one family physician consistently over time enjoy improved outcomes compared to patients with no family doctor or whose care is fragmented between multiple family physicians. Evidence-based benefits of continuity of care include:
- decreased ER visits1
- decreased hospitalizations1
- decreased healthcare costs2
- decreased mortality3

Dr. Kwinter invites you to make an appointment to meet him in his clinic and to see how he can help ensure you achieve your health goals.
